The new acrylic paint series

One to rule them all

From users for users

We are three enthusiastic table-top friends who have set ourselves the goal of making the best paint we are capable of producing a reality, taking it up ith the top brands and even give a little more.

There is a huge difference between a user approaching such a project with the idea of achieving the best possible result and a company trying to open up a market with a product.

The objectives are very far apart.

At every step in product development, the goal was always to achieve the best possible result. And we were only satisfied when we saw no possibility of further improving the product.

About us

The main features

Ultra high opacity

The Ultracryl paint series has been optimized for maximum opacity. This includes in particular problematic shades such as yellow, light green and orange.

Ultra large color spectrum

We have selected the pigments we use mainly with a focus on covering the widest possible color spectrum (excluding toxic pigments).

Therefore, we use the most brilliant pigments available on the market. Thus, in addition to muted colors, we also offer bright colors, as they have been missing in the miniature environment and only known from the artist field.

As harmless as possible

Since we ourselves come from the hobby,it is a special concern to us to make the paint as harmless as possible. The painted works of art should be touched gladly and often and also the moistening of the brush tip between the lips is unfortunately not uncommon, even if this is to be avoided at all costs.

That's why we consistently avoid the use of toxic pigments and have asked ourselves with every additive and ingredient 'do we really need this?' and 'is there a harmless alternative?'

Particularly good flow properties

We placed a strong emphasis on optimizing the flow properties of the Ultracryl paint series. Our paints are therefore quite fluid and can be used straight from the bottle without dilution.
That’s also why we don’t need a separate airbrush range.
Save money on not spending the same money again on just diluted paints. If you want even more fluidity we have an airbrush thinner for making multiple coats or just have fine control, just one bottle to rule them all.
The paints can be applied in very thin layers while still offering excellent brush control. And all of that with ultra-high pigment concentration. Thick paint doesn’t necessarily mean a lot of pigment, and thin paint can contain pigment concentrations of over 30–40%, as we demonstrate with many of our shades. Theoretically, even 60% pigment is possible while being perfectly fluid, but such a high concentration will bring many unwanted side effects. Paint becomes thick due to so-called rheology additives—or simply put, thickeners—not because of a high pigment load. That’s a very common misconception. With thickeners, even a super pigmented, highly fluid paint can be turned into a paste-like tube (canvas) paint, as many tube manufacturers prove every day. Our paint is formulated to be very fluid and yet highly pigmented—we call this “Fluid Body, High Pigment Content.” It’s exactly what you want for miniature painting: it preserves fine details while delivering excellent coverage.

Ultra Matte

Especially in the world of miniatures, a matte finish is particularly important. Glossy surfaces can quickly make models look like cheap plastic toys. That’s why our paints are formulated to achieve a very matte result. We aim for a gloss level below 3 with most colors. With some pigments, this isn’t possible without unnecessarily thickening the paint—so our upper limit is 5 gloss units, which is still extremely low. Ultra matte, by official definition!
